This eBook novel is a road trip thriller and a coming-of-age-story. All the players are in transition. Some are seeking the truth, others are running from it. Some have it dropped upon them from above. It is the spring of 1965. Gary and Chuck are two long-haired young friends with no car, no jobs, and no commitment to anyone but each other. They grew up together in Santa Cruz, California and each is in his early twenties. Gary is muscular and has dark brown hair reaching well below his shoulders. Chuck is very tall with shoulder-length blond hair. Their loose lifestyle has gradually devolved down to the basics of obtaining food, transportation, psychoactive drugs, and high adventure. Hitchhiking is part of the fun and their primary mode of transportation. Their quest to relieve an advanced state of boredom has taken them north, around the San Francisco Bay and up along the scenic California coast highway, known by locals as the ‘One.’ They stand side-by-side, hitchhiking, and are roughly forty miles above Eureka, with only a pipe dream of making it to Seattle.
