French Text 404 Fighter Group was created on January 25th, arriving on English soil between March and April 1944 and returning to Normandy after having flown their operations over the Norman territory from England, eventually to be be based at A-5, Cartigny-l'Épinay (Calvados). This work presents the feats of bravery achieved by this fighter group, thanks to it's official diaries and veterans' accounts. Throughout the book we will discover another Battle of Normandy, this one from the sky, during exactly the time when the tactical aircraft dedicated to supporting its ground troops was brought into being. Many photographs from the USAAF as well as from veterans are included, in addition to detailed descriptions of vehicles and aircraft.
