The purpose of A Collection of Canadian Plays is to present to the Canadian public good plays which have received regional acclaim but not national publicity. We hope to achieve the widest possible dissemination of original Canadian plays, not only for those who may be interested in mounting their own productions, but also for those playgoers who may wish to recapture the pleasures of an evening well spent in the theatre. The selection of plays in this first Volume is not, of course, a random one. We have tried to include one play representative of its particular genre, from the open stage production, the traditional proscenium stage, the school and/or university production and plays suitable for amateurs through to the frankly experimental. We have also taken care to select plays from a variety of regions in Canada. This volume contains Counsellor Extraordinary , by Stewart Boston; Wu Feng , by Munroe Scott; Two Plays , by Sheldon Rosen; Colour the Flesh the Colour of Dust , by Michael Cook; Exit Muttering , by Donald Jack.
