Everyone Has Their Obsessions The Avatars of Fate are dead. Ouristihra is safe from their Goddess of Chaos. The Coalition has disbanded, the survivors scattering or integrating into the fledgling Task Force. And the Hybrids are down to their last. But with a new God of Chaos on the rise, such losses are unacceptable. Not with Phoenix making death less than inevitable.
Sinkua knows the rules. He can't resurrect the long deceased, and he can't resurrect Hybrids. But he's never been good at taking "can't" at face value. All the less so since Yggdrasil helped him get around the first rule.
The plan is simple. Find the others Hybrids. Use Epesol on them. Then use it on himself. But when Epesol falls through the river dividing the afterlife from the Netherworld, they're off in pursuit across the twisting and strangely barren expanses.
Old foes and friends return to haunt. Past lives contend with modern sensibilities. Secrets of the Etherworlders and the ancient world are revealed. And when a certain Etherworlder opposes the plan, complications can only deepen.
Sinkua's reincarnation is the least of their worries.
