Excerpt from A Few Facts Respecting the American Colonization Society, and the Colony at Liberia Public opinion has been silently changing in Britain and America, in regard to this shameful traffic. In the year 1787, a motion was made in Parliament for the abolition of the trade. This motion, though rejected, was renewed for twenty years, till, at length, it was enacted that, after March, 1808, - no Slaves should be imported into the British dominions. In the same year, Congress passed a law prohibiting the farther introduction of Slaves into the United States.
