This is an eye witness account from a WWII tanker in Europe. Much has been written about the lives that were lost, the families that were torn apart and the children that would never be. This book is meant to honor those soldiers who survived World War II and to recognize the changes affecting both those individuals and our Nation. While many writers focus on the lost lives of war, this afterword is intended to honor those soldiers who miraculously made it home. Unseen and often forgotten, these survivors did their jobs. They raised a family, taught them good values, gave their children a good education, accepted other people who were unlike themselves and returned home to build a better country.
