The murder occurred in the same city block as the old county jail, Prince George Winyah Episcopal Church and only a stone's throw from Karnes Court, 712 Duke Street, the duplex where she lived with her husband, Louis H. Coker. The murder was probably the most sensational crime ever committed in Georgetown not only because of its brutality but also because of the time in which it was committed.
