Coles A Tide of Foxglove: Dana McIntyre Mysteries, #3 at Bayshore Shopping Centre in Ottawa, ON

At the grand opening of Blind River's newly expanded art gallery, everything is carefully staged—donors smiling, speeches polished, a visiting contemporary artist at the centre of it all. Dana McIntyre is there in a professional capacity, arranging floral displays for the gala and quietly assessing whether this quiet Northern Ontario town is ready for the expansion of her own growing business. It should be a night of opportunity, visibility, and careful optimism.
But when the celebrated artist is found dead before the evening is over, the story quickly shifts from celebration to containment. The official explanation is immediate and convenient: a tragic accident during the chaos of a high-profile event in an older, imperfect building. In a town already balancing reputation, funding, and renewal, that version of events is the one everyone prefers to believe.
Dana isn't convinced.
With her background in forensic accounting and a mind trained to spot what doesn't add up, she begins to see the fractures beneath the polished narrative—the inconsistencies in contracts, the quiet tensions behind the gallery's success story, and the unsettling realization that the artist's public identity may have been more constructed than authentic. As she digs deeper, she finds herself pulled into a web of financial pressure, controlled narratives, and a system desperate to protect itself at any cost.
With her old friend Mick Crocker grounding her in the realities of Blind River's close-knit community, Dana must decide how far she's willing to push for a truth no one seems eager to hear—and whether some stories are safer left officially "explained."
Because in Blind River, the truth doesn't always survive the telling.
