This volume is not just a collection of poems in two languages. It is mostly about the quest to express the same feelings and thoughts in two vastly dissimilar languages. It is about the poet's desire to reach her reader, despite differences in culture and historical experiences. Therefore, the reader is handed a three-pronged book: a 'critical edition, ' because the volume contains, poems, literary translations and accompanying notes. Palásti honors her fortunate reader with revealing the trade secrets of her art, the dilemmas connected to 'selections' and 'rejections.' The enjoyable task of the reader is to participate in this process and follow the poet along the gestation and biography of her work.
