It is the near future and Japan has allowed "petification", where women and men are paid handsomely for surrendering themselves to becoming "pets", who serve their owners for ten years in any way they want. Philippe has treated himself to a new pet: Beatrice, his new puppy. He has got to know her for a few days now, and he is quite satisfied with his purchase. To celebrate, he invites over his old friend Hugo, who he knows can enjoy Beatrice just as much as he does.
