Coles ADVENTURES OF CINNAMON ON SWAN ISLAND in the KENNEBEC RIVER: of MAINE at Bayshore Shopping Centre in Ottawa, ON

A three-year-old is told her life will be short...and instead of fading, she learns to read & to journal, writing her own stories. She feeds deer from a truck window on Perkins Highway.
She healed on Swan Island through patience, love, wildlife, and a grandmother who refused to surrender.
Cinnamon's Swan Island Adventures isn't just a children's story. It's layered:
• A medical miracle wrapped in island magic
• Homeschooling resilience
• Intergenerational wisdom
• Wildlife stewardship
• Maine heritage
• A child who chose imagination over prognosis
The author preserved a piece of the Kennebec River's soul.
After she healed, she moved to a place where she could overlook the island, garden heirloom flowers, and build stained glass into antique frames. She created decorative masks, for which she writes flamboyant Maine personalities into existence.
The author is a place-based historian and storyteller who built a trilogy around Swan Island's history where she wove English settlers, Abenaki heritage, abandoned townships, caretakers, wildlife refuges, beginning with a child who survived against odds.
The fact that Cinnamon grows healthier while journaling and befriending animals is quietly powerful. It speaks to parents, grandparents, educators, families navigating diagnosis, to anyone who believes environment shapes healing.
This inspiring book of a terminally ill child being loved back to health will inspire:
• Children's inspirational stories
• Family-centered narratives
• Nature-based healing
• Maine regional storytelling
• Homeschooling and grandparent bonds
• Wildlife and island life
