Sixteen-year-old Karen Lyles is the only hearing member of her Deaf family and she's absolutely fed up with how unfair her life has become. The girls in her gymnastics class are snobs who treat her like she doesn't exist and her classmates at school are just as conceited. Besides this, small-town life is beyond boring. The sole interesting aspect of life in Peake, Alabama is the presence of a mysterious vigilante, a supposedly invisible superhero, known as, 'Unseen.' Karen feels like she and Unseen have one thing in common, they're both invisible. But when her little sister, Tessa, is kidnapped by one of Unseen's enemies, Karen's life becomes anything but boring. She teams up with an unexpected source of help to rescue Tessa and during the mission to get her sister back, Karen learns that she and Unseen have much more in common than the ability to move about unnoticed.
