Sanah Patel loves her friends. From sleepovers to shopping at the mall, there's nothing she enjoys more than spending time with them. Sure, she isn't always able to relate to them. And yeah, she may not always be included by the others, but that's fine, right? At least she's got friends! When she's partnered with her group's nemesis, Cruise Bates, for a history project, Sanah does everything she can to ensure that she stays distant from him in order to remain loyal to her friends. But the more time she spends with him, the more she comes to realize that Cruise doesn't match her friends' descriptions at all: in fact, he's the complete opposite of what they said he'd be like. As their friendship gets deeper and deeper, Sanah must pick between the two groups of people, confront the terrifying memories from her past, and find an answer to the question that sends chills down her back: does she really have friends, or is she alone?
