Excerpt from An Abridgment of the Second Edition of a Work, Written by Dr. Currie, of Liverpool in England, on the Use of Water, in Diseases of the Human Frame; And on Fever, Opium, Strong Drink, Abstinence From Food, and the Passages Through the Human Skin: With Occasional Remarks HE following abridgment, with the remarks se companying it, firl't appeared in fucceflive num bers in the Kennebec Intelligencer for November 17 and 24, and December 1, 8, and 15, 1798. It was conceived that advantage might refult from the whole being reprinted in the form of a pamphlet, to infure both its prefervation and its circulation among new readers. The author has availed himfelf of this opportunity to make a few corrections and improvements. There was the more room for this, owing to the extreme hafle of the hrl't publication, which was precipitated in order to put the American public into the earliefi poflible pofl'eflion of fuch important materials.
