When the contractions start, the last thing I imagine is that I might end up giving birth at home. I’m Stacey, and I just went into labor. The problem is, my husband John has an important project due for work, one he could lose his job over if he doesn’t have it done in time. My plan is to let him work in his home office for as long as possible before I tell him about the impending birth. But as the hours drag on, and my water breaks sooner than I expect, it looks more and more like I might be delivering this baby at home, possibly even alone. I can’t interrupt John no matter how bad the pain gets, no matter how much I feel like I need to push. I’m petrified, but I have no choice.
