Raised by her aunt Margaret, teen Robin Wood loves to draw pictures of the angels who saved her life when she was four. They kept her company until rescuer Michael plucked her from the snow after a plane crash claimed the lives of her family. It takes a lot of coaxing by Robin’s high school art teacher and Michael to convince Margaret to let her attend a college-level art program for gifted students. Robin faces significant challenges on her first time away from home—acceptance by strangers of her disability in a 1970s small college town and the embarrassment of revealing her scarred body to roommates.
