A modern Greek mythology retelling of the Eros and Psyche story originally written in The Golden Ass by Apuleius. Though the human world has its share of trouble, they haven't suffered an apocalypse. Not like the one the gods have experienced. The problem with immortal beings and eternal stories is that they don't die, they just restart. The opportunity that lies in the shifts from one cycle to the next is that the gods get to sift through all the retellings of their tales, and choose which stories they want. In this novella, we follow the "reboot" of the story of Eros, the god of Love. This time, his Psyche is a human woman named Alma. Alma has different ideas about how the world - and love - works. Though this retelling updates and modernizes the tasks that Aphrodite assigns Psyche, is also asks whether she's doing them for the god of love, or for herself. More importantly, Eros has to grow and change to suit modern cultures. He undertakes tasks himself to better understand his new story. The author, Alicia K. Anderson has a Ph.D. in Mythological Studies and Depth Psychology.
