When King Elrod uncovers an ancient forbidden tome hidden deep within Mount Evelone, he unknowingly awakens a darkness within it. The tome senses something already festering in the king's heart—a desperate desire to bring back his dead wife and child. Feeding on that grief, its dark influence begins to consume his mind, driving him into madness as both his mental and physical state slowly deteriorate.
