A Contemporary Romance
Unlikely Romances Book Three
Bella doesn't expect to fall for the arrogant guy who comes into her bookstore but he's with his friends, and she gets caught up in the moment and agrees on a date. She never expected to fall so hard for him, and she soon discovers there's a great deal beneath his cocky exterior. She's bookish, more comfortable with a classic piece of literature than with people. He's an outgoing social magnet. Nothing about her attraction makes sense but it doesn't really matter because she just can't stop herself from falling for him, risky as it might be. Can this unlikely pair navigate to a happily ever after or will they end up sorry they ever met?
Here is an excerpt:
"It's a perfect analogy," Chris said. God, that man spoke as though he believed every word that came out of his mouth was scripture! "Look, why do people buy a book when it has a bestseller sticker on it?"
"Okay, okay! You've made your point. Can we go eat now?"
"But what if you read something that doesn't even have a cover?" Isabella asked. "I have a friend who's a novelist and I read her manuscripts before they're even published. How am I supposed to judge them?"
Jorge cackled and Isaac said, "This is my favorite bookstore now."
Chris smiled and said, "I think it might be mine, too. What's your name?"
Jorge said, "This is Belle, and you've met your match."
Chris said, "Belle means beauty so tell me this, Beautiful." He stepped a little closer. "You read her manuscripts because you know her, right? Because you're friends?"
Isabelle nodded with a smile and tried to pretend she wasn't thrilled he called her beautiful.
"Well then," he said. "You're judging those manuscripts by the cover. It just so happens in this case, the cover is your relationship with your friend."
"That's just silly," she said.
There was more laughter and Chris said, "You have to give me a chance to convince you."
"Go ahead," she laughed.
"Not in front of these Cretins," he said with a smile. "Tomorrow night, dinner."
"I'm busy tomorrow night," she said. When the others laughed and hooted, she said, "But I'm free day after tomorrow. How about then?" She hadn't intended to go out with him but something about the others teasing decided it for her.
To his credit, Chris didn't look at them at all.
