GENRE IS A CONSTRUCT. GENRE DOES NOT EXIST. Such are the guiding principles of the curation process for Subtle Body Press's fiction anthology series debuting in October 2024. Our focus with Body Shots is one thing and one thing only: finding works from new, established, and emerging voices whose stories move us, grip us, entertain us, and/or make us think, compulsively turning pages until we reach the end, regardless of genre, form, or trope. In our first volume, you will find an eclectic mix of conventional fiction, transgressive fiction, stream of consciousness, magical realism, slipstream, and horror, with great care to arrange it all along a path of shared, recurring, or related themes.
