From a person with 47 years of Chinese language experience and a love of writing poetry comes a volume of 51 poems, translated from Chinese into English. Each poem is translated in rhyme, and explores the nuance of language and meaning. After a lifetime of study, years abroad in Taiwan, and a graduate degree, Jonathan Babcock fluently gives readers refined interpretations of words from long ago. Contrasted with each of Babcock's works are automated computer translations. Often humorous, this deliberate inclusion highlights how good poetry translation requires a skillful and creative human mind.
