"If we’re able to trap the redcoats before they can escape to the sea, we can end this war. The army is itching for a fight and for the first time since Boston, it’ll be the British who are in retreat. With the end in sight, folks are already starting to talk of life in our new world.
"Captain Davis is hesitant to share my hopeful enthusiasms. In his pessimistic mind, the British will not be outwitted so easily, but that’s also what he’d said about Saratoga. Only time will tell which of us is right, I pray that it is I. Our army deserves victory, and I’ve found there’s no greater pleasure than proving Captain Davis wrong."
