I married Luke on February 29, 2004. It was a third marriage for each of us. I had no reservations. This marriage would not only work, it would be wonderful! Luke was a gentle, soft-spoken giant of a man, and he owned two businesses. I would never suffer financially again. Just a few months into the relationship, however, I could no longer deny that things were going terribly wrong. Luke quit his job almost as soon as he said "I do" and he began to treat me and my kids with utter disdain and derision. He sank me into such debt that I wondered if I could ever get out of it. And his older sister Mary was who he lived for. I was second to Luke. I was crushed with the realization that my third marriage was also crumbling. I had to make a decision: would I ask Luke to leave, or would I try my hardest to make our marriage work? I could not stand the thought of going through another divorce, but neither could I live with a giant louse. What would I do?
