On August 19, 1942, the largest amphibious raid of World War 2 was carried out by the 2nd Canadian Division.  The raid was a tragic failure and has become the most traumatic loss in Canadian military history.  This failure raised many questions about the raid, this book examines those questions by comparing the events of other amphibious landings and battles.  Having made an examination various speculative scenarios which were originally considered by the planners are then examined.  Having considered what actually happened as well as what might have happened, a shadowy verdict is made.
