In the 1930s, a Chinese People’ s Volunteer Army brigade arrives at the revolutionary town of Longgang in central China. Inspired by the Red Army, a young farm boy, Liang Mancang, grows from a children’ s brigade member into a revered young soldier. Commander Shi personally hoists him onto a warhorse, guiding him toward the call of the revolution… After the founding of the People’ s Republic of China, Mancang joined the Chinese People’ s Volunteer Army, crossing the Yalu River to serve abroad. Silently, he supports an orphan, Xia Husheng, from Longgang. Encouraged by Mancang, Husheng joins the Young Pioneers. As a new era dawns, Liang Mancang returns to his hometown under a pseudonym, establishing the “ Hongwa Library,” influencing generations of village children. Wei Shuhuai, a young man who grew up beside Grandpa Liang, returns to his hometown after college, pouring his efforts into the mission to eradicate poverty. With the nation’ s initiative to honor retired military personnel, many long-forgotten commendations and medals unveil themselves. The distant mountain lights cast their glow, revealing the noble spirit of an unsung hero…
