""English Folk Songs From The Southern Appalachians"" is a collection of traditional folk songs that were sung by the people living in the southern Appalachian region of the United States. The book was compiled by Olive Dame Campbell, who travelled to the region in the early 1900s with her husband, John C. Campbell, to study the culture and music of the people who lived there. The book contains over 200 songs, including ballads, love songs, work songs, and children's songs. Many of the songs have roots in the British Isles and were brought over by early settlers to the region. Others were created by the people who lived in the mountains, often telling stories of their daily lives and struggles. Each song is accompanied by a brief introduction, providing information on its origins and context. The book also includes notes on the musical notation used, as well as an index of the songs and their sources. ""English Folk Songs From The Southern Appalachians"" is considered a valuable resource for those interested in the history and culture of the Appalachian region, as well as for musicians and folk music enthusiasts. The book has been republished several times since its initial release in 1917, and continues to be a popular reference for those studying traditional American music. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
