Excerpt from First Primary Language Book This book is designed to meet the requirements for language work in the second grade of Philippine primary schools. The hope of making easier the problem of teaching the Filipino child to talk English has prompted these lessons. The facts, circum stances, and activities which interest him in his everyday life are presented in connected and progressive exercises that lead him to observe, to talk, to write. These familiar incidents about which he has ideas and wishes to speak, have been selected purposely to give him drill in correct expression of his own thoughts. The pictures, simple in outline, full of action, occasionally enlivened by a touch of humor, and supplemented by short reading lessons, may serve to quicken interest and imagination, as well as afford opportunity for class conversation. Instruction in grammar is limited to that which will enable the pupil to do the exercises intelligently. Suggestions to the teachers, in the footnotes and in the back of the book, are made full, simple, and explicit, with the idea of putting each earnest teacher in a position to secure results. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Find more at www.forgottenbooks.com This book is a reproduction of an important historical work.
