Evelyn usually didn't mind her company's volunteer mandate, even if she thought Giving Tuesday was a made-up holiday. But she dreaded that the animal shelter was the only option left. There was no way she wanted to go there. Not so soon after Coco. Gil wanted a dog but his apartment complex didn't allow pets.
