The story is set in the year 3045, when Earth is on the brink of becoming uninhabitable due to extreme environmental and weather conditions like toxic rain, massive hurricanes, and non-stop volcanic eruptions. To escape this fate, humanity has initiated a series of expeditions to find new planets for recolonization, having developed advanced space travel technology that makes interstellar journeys as routine as an airplane flight. Most of Earth's population now lives in fortified, domed mega-cities with controlled weather, largely unaware of the planet's dire state.
