Black and White Version..... This compelling memoir follows the author's journey as he and his wife, Laquita, sample retirement, build a traditional wooden sailboat, and enjoy amazing sailing adventures--and misadventures-along the beautiful threatened reefs and cayes of Belize. Along the way, Bill and Laquita learn to navigate the "island time" culture, experience living off-the-grid, work alongside a master boat builder, and explore the waters and local treasures of this incredible sailing paradise. Bill's chronicle highlights two endangered treasures: the art and craft of constructing traditional wooden boats, and the pleasure of exploring healthy coral reefs. Ultimately, this personal, engaging narrative aims to capture readers' hearts and generate further interest in saving these irreplaceable resources before it's too late.
