A Massachusetts state game warden's body turns up under a pile of brush in the deep woods. They find a decapitated bear carcass on top of him. It's paws are missing, too. Captain Larry Jamison's personal life is a mess. But he is compelled to investigate the murder of one of his own. Officer Sam Travis, the victim's longtime partner, wants vengeance.
