Pop surrealism, dreams, and always arresting felines come together in a hypnotic collection featuring 70 lowbrow artists The cat is a constantly recurring motif in pop-surrealism, kustom art, and other forms of lowbrow—probably unsurprisingly so, as many artists and graphic designers are used to the creatures wandering over their keyboards as they work. An amazing number of the most recognized artists in the genre have produced some eye-popping work featuring cats, including Marion Peck, Nicoletta Ceccolli, and Mark Ryden. All three are featured here in a collection of more than 150 iconic, stunningly original images artists, each showing a different treatment and aspect of feline personalities. Of appeal to anyone into lowbrow and immensely useful to graphic designers and artists working in that world, this is also an astoundingly original take on the cat art genre, which will draw in a more general cat-loving audience.
