How do Egyptian Marxists, situated in exile and the pollical underground, materialize their theoretical and practical endeavors since the 2011 Revolution and subsequent counterrevolution? At the nexus of anthropology and political science, Helena Zohdi offers insights into the daily modes of action and knowledge production of Egyptian Revolutionary Socialists who continue to strive for revolutionary change despite all odds. Hereby a vast array of questions is raised regarding universality, the relationship between theory and practice, translation of Marxist theory across time and space, fraught political alliances or propaganda and counterpropaganda, while also challenging notions of Eurocentrism and relations to state power.
