His books sold more than 20 million copies. But few souls knew the man behind The Godfather like she did... "An impressively forthcoming reminiscence full of creative insight. Gino is a natural storyteller." -Kirkus Reviews Carol Gino made a promise. In her beloved patient's dying moments, the nurse vowed she would keep an eye on the woman's family: the family of world-famous author Mario Puzo. As an aspiring author herself, Gino's connection to Puzo began with the effort to find her voice amidst the fanfare of a literary heavy hitter. She often picked the brains of award-winning and pioneering authors in his inner circle. But when she opened her heart to the man behind the mobster classic, she began a 20-year exploration of true power and passion. Guided by sage insights and their powerful connection, Gino blazed the unique trail to an authentic and equitable partnership. Despite their gap in age and ideologies, the aspiring writer and the international bestseller uncovered the secrets of love, intimacy, and life. With little written about Puzo, Gino's perceptive narrative draws from exclusive conversations and firsthand experiences. As the 50th anniversary of The Godfather attracts readers old and new, her story is one to pass down through the generations. Me and Mario is an enthralling celebrity memoir by the person who knew Puzo better than anyone. If you like behind-the-scenes stories, feminist ideology, and exploring the minds of writing masters, then you'll love New York Times Best-selling Author Carol Gino's deftly observed biography.
