Having lived through the terror of Hitler's gangsters in occupied Holland and still being able to write about those episodes, is due to my firm belief that there is "A Power I know nothing about". [Jack and Mary his wife unlike many were very fortunate to escape and escape more than most]. During the fall of 1944 my wife Mary and I came to the conclusion that our work with the resistance had come to such complications that remaining in Amsterdam became a too great a risk to take any longer. Group TD's leader assisted us in contacting a resistance group in the province of Friesland, located in the northers section of Holland. As the German warplanes unloaded their bombs, massive tank columns were approaching our borders, and an armada of men and artillery were assaulting the freedom and destruction of our nation; Holland stood alone...
