"I asked the 12-year-old I once was what he would have done in my place... And like a flash, that child told me: I want to open a restaurant with Grandma. She is the reason I’ve always wanted to pursue this profession."
Merci Mamie is a story of love, cooking, and sharing. In this heartwarming tribute to his French grandmothers, celebrated chef Jean Imbert shares 70 timeless recipes, served countless times at Sunday family meals: lemon chicken, creme caramel, beef bourguignon, zucchini terrine, pound cake spread with butter...
At the age of 10, Jean Imbert "opened a restaurant" at home and played chef for his family. At 22, he launched his first restaurant, and at 30, he won Season 3 of Top Chef: France. In 2019 he opened Mamie by Jean Imbert in the 16th arrondissement alongside his charismatic grandmother, Nicole. Today, he is the Chef at the Plaza Athénée, succeeding Alain Ducasse, and owns several restaurants in Paris and the United States.
