This is a true story about a senior dog becoming a stray and his journey in finding his forever home. The Author became aware from volunteering at rescues and shelters that senior, black furred and special need pets are often overlooked for adoption. Many of these pets are brought in as strays. Severe kennel stress can prevent a pet from being adopted indefinitely. The Author wanted to educate the young readers and their guardians on how to prevent their pets or soon to be pets from becoming a stray. She was hoping by doing so, this would reduce the number of pets entering shelters/rescues. Currently, shelters are overcrowded, placing the pets in a life and death situation. She added two pages of suggestions in her book on how to keep pets from ending up as a stray. These suggestions were taught to her while volunteering at shelters and rescues. In July of 2024 she and her husband adopted a rescue dog and they practice these same suggestions that are in her book.
