So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It's your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it. —Colossians 3:12-14 , The Message I'm putting on my Jesus shirt And all my other clothes. I'm dressed to show the world God's love So everybody knows! What if being kind to one another were as normal as putting on a pair of pants? Or what about compassion—could that feel as natural as wearing a jacket on a cool day? Forgiveness? Humility? Or even love? What if loving others was a regular part of daily life—as regular as getting dressed! Inspired by Paul's exhortation in Colossians 3:12-14, Putting On My Jesus Shirt uses familiar, concrete images of clothing to help children see how they can share Jesus' love with others in their daily lives. Jody Jensen Shaffer reminds children and the adults who love them that the values in the Bible—good things like love, kindness, patience, humility, and forgiveness —can be a normal part of our everyday. Putting On My Jesus Shirt is a heartwarming book that highlights God's love as the anchor and source of these good things, told through a fun and simple rhyme. With delightful illustrations by Sara Ugolotti, this book invites children to show love to others in their everyday lives—at home, at school, and in their neighborhoods. Share Putting On My Jesus Shirt with the children in your life and help them embrace the joy of living out God's love every day.
