Sugarman, MD That was a powerful statement that was made by my neurosurgeon five months after my accident. He said he was astounded to see me walking and talking and that he had never witnessed such a miraculous recovery. A person recovering from a traumatic brain injury as severe as mine is one in a million. His statement made me realize that reading about what had happened to me might be an inspiration to others and might help them to get through tough times. Writing the book also helped me to appreciate the miracle that had been given to me. I was so fortunate to have a family as supportive as mine. The sacrifices my father made by sitting by my bedside for hours and days, willing me to live; and the support I have received from each of my family members have played an important role in my recovery. My hope is that this book will be an inspiration and that it will help others to conquer their life's trials. As Dr. Sugarman said I had a second chance in life.
