After sacrificing herself to save others during a school fire, one of Chris's closest friends is gone forever. She left behind a host of secrets, but there is no one with answers—at least, no one who is speaking up. Meanwhile, the Intriguer continues to abduct young royals for unknown purposes and seems to take a special interest in tormenting Chris. Inspired by her friend's heroism, Chris is determined to fight it and rescue the captured princes and princesses. She won't be doing it alone, though. Laomi and Elsie are loyal accomplices, a rescue party is on its way to the school, and the Speaking Wolf who tried to kill Chris is now her personal trainer. Still, the power gap between the Intriguer and those who would defeat it seems insurmountable. More than anything else, Chris needs new allies on her side—powerful ones. Luckily, the right folks might be hovering just out of sight, waiting for a chance to reach out.
