In English class and in basketball class (Coach Anstett's basketball practices) there were high expectations. You brought your supplies to both, gave maximum effort in both places, and learned resiliency from failure and humility in victory. Coach's high standards were explained and consistently reached or specific, consistent consequences were received. He taught me how to put my voice into exposition and how to argue my opinion intelligently and successfully. As a person, Mr. Anstett changed my life. He indirectly forced me to put all of myself into my everyday tasks. He challenged my writing, in an encouraging way, which pushed me to get better at an exponential rate. On the last day of class, Mr. Anstett shook my hand, looked me in the eye, and told me to never stop writing. I will never forget this moment. And I will never stop writing.
