Summer of '69 is about baseball in 1969. The New York fans, perhaps energized by the NY Jets winning Super Bowl III I January, 16 - 7 over the Baltimore Colts football team. The Colts were coming off a 34 - 0 victory over Cleveland in the NFL title game. The Jets were 18 1/2 point underdogs in the Super Bowl. The New York fans were also, treated to a surprise World Series title over the Baltimore Orioles in October 1969. The Orioles went 109 - 53 (.673 Pct.) in regular season. The Mets received great pitching from left hander - Jerry Koosman who won two games in the World Series. They also, were helped by Ron Swoboda's .400 batting average and Don Clendenon, World Series MVP. Clendenon hit .357 with three home runs and four RBI's. The Mets won the Series I five games which were all low scoring that shocked major league baseball thet season.
