Created to break the Western Front stalemate in World War One, the tank really came into its own in World War Two. Tanks saw extensive development during the conflict, growing in size, firepower, armour protection and mobility. Properly employed, armoured forces were used in concert with infantry, artillery, engineers, and air support to tear holes in enemy lines and rampage into their rear areas. Armour, fearsome to behold and difficult to stop, became a primary weapon during the war, a place it still holds today. This new publication examines armoured warfare from the perspective of tank troops as they struggled to survive and win on the battlefield.
