This essay argues for the importance of creating a statue of Nathan Hale on the Yale College campus that accurately represents the historical figure. Drawing on evidence of Hale's physical appearance, character, and heroic actions during the Revolutionary War, the author makes a compelling case for how the statue should look and what message it should convey.
