Lieutenant John Halloway is called to a crime scene on a cold and rainy night in the middle of downtown Vegas. Once there, in the small, grassy court yard in front of the Courthouse, he finds a man bound to a make-shift cross, naked, all of his sneses brutally mutiliated. The only clues are a note left hanging around his neck and a message burned into the man's forehead.
