Candace was reeling. In Part 1: The Neophyte, she had lain with a man who claimed to be a human incarnation of an ancient god. She wasn't beginning to actually believe him now, was she? Were the strange visions she kept seeing just her mind playing tricks on her, or was there actually something there, something she didn't understand? Understanding or no, she agreed to his "training," a course of pleasure and pain that was supposed to awaken the Goddess within her. She knew he would only be in her life until the full moon, and that he had some sort of initiation planned for that night. Would her depression return to overwhelm her once he was gone?
