The Invisible Man is a story of a scientist and his descent into insanity. The protagonist is Griffin, a scientist who invented chemicals capable of rendering bodies invisible. Griffin made a research into optics and invents a way to change a body's refractive index to that of air so that it reflects no light and thus becomes invisible. Griffin's penchant for random violence begins to turn his world into a horrific setting that he can't control. After becoming an invisible man, Griffin wears long-sleeved coats and gloves keeping his face hidden and a wide-brimmed hat in order to disguise. During a snowstorm, he stays at a local inn owned by Mr. and Mrs. Hall. When Griffin begins to run out of money and reveals his invisibility to his landlady, things start changing for him.
