This work is an illustrated children's picture book with a poem entitled "The Jungle Promenade." The poem tells the story of monkeys and apes gathering in the moonlight each summer night for a dance. Illustrations are vividly sculpted in clay and photographed in high resolution in a 10"x7" format. The poem is in regular meter (8.7.8.7) with a regular rhyming pattern of AABCCB. The poem has nine strophes, across two facing pages. The book includes a song with piano accompaniment so that the book could either be read or sung as well as an Orff orchestration for children to play in ensemble. Ukulele chords are included for extra convenience. This book is the first of three currently being developed. Ran Whitley, DM, PhD is the Professor of Music Education at Campbell University, Buies Creek, NC. Ran frequently travels the U.S. and the world holding Orff-Schulwerk workshops for both teachers and children using children's books to teach musical concepts. He is also a certified ESL teacher, a professional jazz musician and an ordained Baptist minister. Ran is married to Donna with five children and a yet-to-be-determined number of grandchildren.
