It's the early 1970's in Woodstock - four years after the famous Music and Arts Festival of 1969. Jill and Gary, a suburbanite couple, are seeking to invigorate a marriage filled with disillusionment. Enticed by a Village Voice newspaper ad that promises them an 'extraordinary' experience, they visit the Del Prado hotel in Woodstock. The hotel is known for its alternative philosophy and lifestyle, providing a supportive space for experimentation with new lifestyles and practices - in a setting that affords privacy from the outside world. This experimentation includes open sex and drugs as part of the search for self-actualization and fulfillment. As Jill and Gary begin their journey of exploration the tension in their marriage surfaces. Gary is threatened by Jill's new openness while at the same time becoming seduced himself by the sex and drugs. Now unsure of himself, he becomes involved in a shady drug deal with someone he has just met at the hotel. He heads to New York City with this virtual stranger, leaving Jill to fend for herself in this new environment.
