It can be hard to be mindful when the whole world seems to live in unconsciously. This certainly holds just as true for churchgoers and nonchurchgoers alike. For me, when I became aware of the inauthenticity and lack of honesty of good churchgoing Christians, I stopped in my tracks. I believe this is the biggest drawback to living an authentic Christian life. If you are surrounded by inauthentic Christians, it can be hard to be authentic if you’re not aware of how you’re doing with your relationship with God. But what is more, it can be hard for the regular churchgoer to be motivated to be our best and live the faith mindfully if we are surrounded by unconscious and distracted people.
